4 Steps to Regain Your Business Mojo

Have you ever had one of those days? You know the ones I’m talking about; you have a very long to do list and absolutely no motivation to do anything but stay in bed and binge watch Netflix.

As business owners who often work from home, this can be a constant struggle, especially if things don’t seem to be going very well in your business. It’s easy to stay motivated when everything is going great. You have wonderful clients; a group of raving fans and your email list is growing by leaps and bounds. But what about when things aren’t going so great? I get it, I’ve been there. In fact, I was very recently.

One of my best clients asked me to suspend her membership until November, my house was in complete disarray because we were having carpet installed on the upper floor (where my home office is located), the carpet installers scratched my hardwood floor, we had sold our washer and dryer only to find out that the new set wouldn’t be delivered for three weeks and then I received my first spam complaint on my mail server. None of these things is a big deal by themselves but everything seemed to happen all at once and my brain spun out of control.  When that happens, I tend to shut down and lose all motivation. Let me tell you I wasn’t sure how I was ever going to dig myself out of the dark hole that I had fallen into. I was even considering shutting the doors on my business and finding a job!

Luckily, with the help of my divine team I was able to reclaim my work mojo and feel the fire in my belly start to stir again. The best part is that it was pretty easy once I made the decision to stop feeling sorry for myself and start doing what I love.

So, now you are asking what exactly I did. Well, I’m going to tell you.

First, I took a day off.

Yes, you read that right I took a day off! I know you are probably thinking that I was giving in to the urge to “escape” from my business and binge watch Netflix. No, that is not what was going on at all. The night before I took a day off, I had told my husband how disconnected I was feeling from everything including myself. I told him that I didn’t know what was going on with me; I felt like I needed something, but I didn’t know what. He suggested that I take the next day off and go up to Manitou Springs, a little mountain town about 30 minutes from our home. He said it would be good for me to just wander around town and visit some of the shops for the day.

Now, I should explain that it was very strange for my husband to specifically suggest Manitou Springs. It’s not someplace that we frequent, and it rarely comes up in conversation. So, the fact that he suggested it told me that it was a divine message from my angels and guides. The next day I headed out to Manitou Springs. It turned out to be just the thing I needed.

Manitou Springs is a rather spiritual little town complete with mineral springs and street performers just like in Stars Hollow (for you Gilmore Girls fans out there). It was a beautiful morning to spend walking around and exploring. Along my journey I discovered a great little crystal shop where I found a beautiful amethyst geode for a great price! This was the beginning of some major divine intervention in my life. I had been searching for the perfect amethyst geode for a long time and this one jumped off the shelf and screamed, “take me home”. One of the main properties of the amethyst is that it is a healing stone and I needed healing!

The next day I was sent another divine message. I was looking through some of my old blog posts for something to send out in my weekly newsletter and came across an article that spoke to me. As I read the article I told my readers that I was taking a break from social media on the weekends. A few minutes later I was reading another article by a colleague which also suggested a social media detox. Coincidence? I think not! There are no coincidences only synchronicities. But I digress…

As a highly sensitive person as well as an empath I tend to absorb a lot of energy (good and bad) which can take a heavy toll over time. I realized that I hadn’t been protecting myself from the harsh energies of social media, so I decided to once again implement my “Facebook Free” weekends. This means that

I stay off of all social media platforms from 5pm Friday until I begin my workday on Monday. At first, I was really worried about stepping away since I do a lot of business on Facebook but with the social media schedulers available,…

As I’ve already mentioned I was receiving a lot of divinely sent messages through this process and I realized that I was also seeing repeated numbers and gray feathers a lot! The number that I kept seeing was 47 and when I looked it up in my angel number book it means, “You are on the right path. Keep up the good work.” Whenever feathers appear angels are near and gray feathers mean that life has been frantic, but peace is coming! Now if there were ever two more timely messages those were it!

There was one last thing that I noticed I was doing that had to stop! I kept saying how chaotic my life was and you know what I got – more chaos!  So, once I realized this, I took steps to end the negative self-talk. When I start to say something like, “My life is chaotic” or, “This stinks” I stop myself and instead say, “cancel, clear, delete” and reframe what I was saying to something more positive. I also try to sprinkle a little gratitude as well.

So, with a little help from my angels and divine team I have found my work mojo again!

Looking back, it was pretty simple, I just needed a reminder that I have the tools I need to stay motivated. Here is a quick recap of those 4 simple steps:

  1. Take a step back and take a day off doing something you enjoy. Sometimes a little time away is just the ticket.
  2. Schedule regular social media detox time. We are inundated with other people’s drama on social media so take time off at least once a week.
  3. Wake up and notice the signs that are being sent to you. The universe sends us signs all the time but most of the time we ignore them. These signs have important messages so pay attention.
  4. Turn that negative self-talk into encouraging positive self-talk! What you put out into the universe is always returned to you. When you say things like, “My life is chaotic” the universe responds by sending more chaos because it believes that is what you want.

So, the next time you feel like giving up remember that you are not alone. We have all been there and it is possible to find your work mojo again in just a few simple steps!
